Worldwide – Nike has launched a new retail concept in several markets, the Nike Lab, which will feature limited editions of never-before-seen products and creative collaborations.
Stores in London, Paris, New York, Milan, Shanghai and Hong Kong all opened last week, featuring interiors that match the innovation ethos for which Nike is known. The interiors, designed by Miniwhiz, a design firm that focuses on sustainable development, were developed to be low-impact on the environment, using new materials to create modular structures that did not need chemical adhesives or result in waste.
‘We’re trying to create a closed-loop system,’ says Arthur Huang, CEO at Miniwhiz. ‘A system where everything you use can be re-used, where nothing is thrown away and everything is recyclable.’
While Lab Talk is nothing new, it is good to see Nike take retail design down to its building blocks, using new materials to present innovative products in a sustainable space.
