Custom print: E-platform gets real at NYCxDesign

New York – Online design platform Print All Over Me has created a collection of furniture, lighting and clothing for New York Design Week.

Many of the pieces displayed at Sight Unseen OFFSITE echo the exuberant colour and playful forms of the Memphis Group of designers, active in the 1980s. Participating designers include Saskia Pomeroy, Louie Rigano, Damien Correll and others such as Camille Walala, whose work we profile in depth in our Portfolio section.

Print All Over Me declares its intention to ‘make the internet real’, and has come a long way towards achieving this goal by mounting such an eclectic show. Community members on the site start with blank white articles and upload their designs, with the option of purchasing real-life versions. Print All Over Me also features collections by artists, recently including work by Rhode Island School of Design student Zoe Schlacter and Brooklyn photographer Michael Burk.

The democratic format proves that you don’t have to be Proenza Schouler to translate Tumblr inspiration into a product you can touch. It’s an addictive platform for a generation that gravitates towards experiences that blend the online and offline worlds.
