The fabric of sound: A speaker that blends in

11 : 02 : 2014 Stockholm Furniture Fair : Audio : Speakers

Stockholm – The 2014 Stockholm Furniture Fair was not all about beautiful tables and chairs. It also marked the launch of Vifa, a new Nordic audio brand that values design as much as crystal clear sound.

The Copenhagen wireless loudspeaker looks more like a handbag than a piece of technology. Vifa collaborated with Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat to produce the speaker, which features a special woven textile cover that looks like tweed. The control buttons are hidden in the fabric, enabling the speaker to blend seamlessly into the background of any room.

Kvadrat also recently collaborated with French designer Ora-ïto to create a line of headphones, smartphone cases and USB cables that are minimalist, tactile and streamlined in design.
