New York – Artists Hayden Dunham and Nicolas Lobo have created the multisensory exhibition BIO:DIP in Red Bull Studios.
Lobo’s work consists of large, sculptural forms that were created from fragranced soap cast into small inverted fibreglass swimming pools. As the sculptures slowly melt they fill the exhibition space with scent.
Dunham’s work is designed to make use of the gallery’s ventilation system. Initially in frozen form, her sculptures slowly melt, condensate, evaporate and eventually pass through the audience’s bodies as they breathe.
The exhibition also featured collaborations between the two artists, including an installation that used polychromatic light designed to challenge visitors’ circadian rhythms.
The show highlights how consumers are increasingly attuned to sensory experiences. For more details, read our Sensory Splurge microtrend.
