New York – MNDFL is a drop-in meditation centre created with busy urbanites and newcomers in mind.
For a small fee, visitors can pop into the centre for a spot of self-guided meditation or book one of its 30- or 45-minute classes. ‘As a busy New Yorker, I wanted a place to go to throughout the day that didn’t involve climbing five flights of stairs and sitting in on two-hour talks,’ says Burrows.
Open to all and with a wide range of classes, the space offers a practical route into the art of mindfulness for newcomers. Signature class ‘Breath’ focuses on the practice of calm, measured breathing, while ‘Kids’ teaches children how to cope with stress, restlessness and anxiety.
As our macrotrend The Optimised Self explains, people are looking to maximise their potential to offload the negative effects of urban living.
