London Design Festival 2015 – Designer Tino Schaedler is taking virtual reality to the next level with installation Odyssey.
Visitors to Somerset House are invited to climb aboard and buckle up on Schaedler’s futuristic re-interpretation of a turbine engine, donning a VR headset, headphones and a rumbling SubPac to immerse themselves in a new reality.
Created in collaboration with directors United Realities, the work is designed to ‘question our current definition of space and time and explore design on a more philosophical level, using technology to trigger emotional responses’, says Schaedler.
Once aboard, visitors are taken on a 90-second journey through an other-worldy landscape before ascending through the clouds and into the vast space of the unknown.
