London – A London restaurant is to open a bar where the sun never stops shining. The atrium-like pop-up, called The Glasshouse, will be open at Soho Indian restaurant Carom from June to September.
The space will be lit by lamps normally used to treat seasonal affective disorder, a depressive condition that strikes most commonly in the winter. Carom is touting the effect as an antidote to the ‘unpredictable British weather’.
In addition to the lamps, The Glasshouse is offering a sunshine-themed cocktail menu, with drinks such as Grape Julep that contain Vitamin D. The space will be decorated with tropical vegetation.
In our Spring/Summer 2014 Trend Briefing, LS:N Global tracked the rise of virtue and vice culture, where an infusion of health-promoting sunshine can accompany a session at the bar. For more, see our macrotrend The Polarity Paradox.
