New York – Production company Matte Projects has created Painted Black, an immersive concert experience staged over two months in three acts that bring together music and fashion in three nights of reverie.
Acts I and II of Painted Black were performed this month to the coolest crowds in New York at Irving Plaza. But Painted Black is more than just a concert. It is billed as ‘an exploration of a colour and a lifestyle through a live experience’. Collaborations between the musical acts and visual artists, stage-builders, sculptors, fashion designers and film-makers all lead to an interactive musical evening, in which light installations and video imagery create a multi-sensory experience.
A regular music gig is not enough for people today. They are seeking immersion and interaction, and want to have their senses tantalised. For more, read our Futuretainment macrotrend.
