The high life: Forum unveils the future of luxury

30 : 05 : 2013 Luxury Futures Forum : LSN Events

London – Leading figures in the luxury world joined LS:N Global experts at The Future Laboratory’s headquarters yesterday to explore what is next in high living at the Luxury Futures Forum.

To begin the journey, The Future Laboratory co-founders Chris Sanderson and Martin Raymond gave guests a state-of-the-industry overview of the global luxury market, including a conversation with James Ogilvy, founder of luxury industry bible Luxury Briefing and principal of luxury consultancy Ogilvy & Co.

Sanderson and Raymond then provided a unique insight into the future of luxury trends, complemented by a conversation with Tracy Yaverbaun, director of retail, luxury and fashion partnerships at Facebook.

Afterwards, The Future Laboratory unveiled a film installation – a circular pool of evocative words and images projected on the floor – which introduced its new Luxury Matrix. Guests then headed to The Canteen for Chinese teas and small cakes from Fiendish & Goode.

After these light refreshments, The Future Laboratory’s chief strategy officer Tom Savigar guided attendees through case studies of innovative luxury projects such as Swarovski’s Passport to Sparkle. LS:N Global editor Lucie Greene then delved into the rebranding of off-price luxury as aspirational with Stephanie Phair, managing director of online fashion retailer The Outnet.

To conclude, Sanderson and Raymond briefed guests on The New Luxury Consumer. LS:N Global senior journalist Peter Firth further explored the topic of Millennial luxury consumers with 22-year-old Amber Atherton, founder of online jewellery and accessories boutique MyFlashTrash.

The event came to a close with guests and speakers enjoying a light tipple of Laurent-Perrier in The Yard.
