Dads army: What to give the modern father

Pity the Dads 2.0. The poor loves are spinning so many plates – jobs, kids, households, getting tattoos and buying organic yoghurts – that they have barely stopped this year. They deserve a holiday treat.

What to get them? Start with a subscription from the new raft of groovy men’s titles, or dad-friendly blogs.

Sporty bath and grooming products by Ron Dorff might tempt them into the gym – or browse other men’s bath goodies on Amazon. Darren Barber will whip them in to shape. The more outdoorsy Dads 2.0 could also indulge in some city surf shopping – in between school runs, of course, or trips to toy departments to shop for their children.

Dads 2.0 are hankering after simpler times when sport, music, collecting records and porn were untarnished by hyper-commerciality. Buy them something Sepia-stalgic to remind them of their youth. They are also seeking more time and connections with each other. Bike shop, café and bar hubs such as Cape Town’s The House of Machines will give Dads 2.0 all the man-cave action they need.

Make sure they go there in style by sending them to Mr Porter’s style blog. Textured sporty knits are all the rage.
