International – Google has launched its third annual science fair to find young students with ideas that can change the world.
The international online science and technology competition invites scientists aged 13–18 from over 90 countries to submit solutions to global issues such as ecology, medicine and household technology. It is held in partnership with CERN, the Lego Group, National Geographic and Scientific American.
The young winner will win a $50,000 (€36,885, £31,600) scholarship from Google, a trip to the Galapagos with National Geographic Expeditions and experiences at CERN, Google or the Lego Group.
Fifteen finalists will enjoy fame as Google plans to broadcast them on a series of summer Google+ Hangouts on Air events. It will also feature the work of other emerging scientists.
Scientists are eclipsing other celebrities and increasingly enjoying rock star status. To learn more about this and the fusion of science with commerce and culture, book a place at our forthcoming Strange Days Trend Briefing.
