The Hilton Pattaya by Bangkok-based studio Department of Architecture references the movement of the seas, with undulating ceilings and decorative details.

Tapping into luxury consumers’ increasing desire for experience, as well as comfort, Japanese studio Design Spirits created the Niseko Look Out Café. The designers were able to use only three materials due to restricted access, and in doing so created a unique, localised interior.

Urban camping company Bivouac NYC is creating a Rurban experience for city dwellers, by setting up temporary campsites on top of buildings. Users can register online to have the location of the camps sent to them via SMS.

Every day from 22 December until the end of the year, the LS:N Global team is choosing its favourite stories from 2011. We will resume normal service on 3 January 2012.
