Lavish treats, such as gold leaf burgers and beetroot and goat’s cheese macaroons, provided by The Admirable Crichton, were served alongside endlessly flowing Laurent-Perrier and Chivas Regal cocktails.

Journalist Lucia van der Post, who was awarded the 2011 Walpole Medal of Excellence for her 25 years of commentary on the world of luxury goods, spoke about the changes she had seen in the industry. While talking about the reluctance of brands to embrace the future of media landscapes, Van der Post cited Net-A-Porter as a success story of online luxury. The company’s sister site, Mr Porter, won the Luxury Brand Online award, while Selfridges’ Project Ocean campaign was honoured for Corporate Social Responsibility, and The Goring Hotel received the British Luxury Service award.
