New York – Brooklyn design studio 3rd Ward has transformed a shipping container into a new kind of store called ShopBox.
The products are displayed in the shop’s window on multi-level spinning pedestals, but in line with 3rd Ward’s DIY philosophy, there are no sales staff to assist customers with purchasing.
Buyers sign up using an iPad on the side of the container and text in their order, which is then shipped directly to their home address.
‘We’re creating a new shopping experience,’ says Jeffrey Opdyke, retail director at 3rd Ward. ‘I think people will get a kick out of this new way to use technology.’
