Mykonos – Design practice K-Studio has re-created a traditional Greek taverna on the island of Mykonos, but with a modern twist.
In designing Alemàgou, K-Studio drew on traditional Greek elements, incorporating them into a modern bar concept. A natural reed-thatched roof and dry stone walls form the shell of the taverna, while the smooth screed cement floor with painted white accents adds a modern look.
The pumpkin shell lighting adds a hand-made element to the design, and complements the modern pine furniture.
The use of traditional techniques and design elements is further explored in our Primitivism Inspire feature.
