Paris – A new hotel created by French designer Matali Crasset has opened on rue de Charrone in the French capital.
The 42-room HI Matic hotel has no staff. Guests book online and check in through an automated computer system. The system enables users to share tips about the city, change the music in the public areas and order meals from a machine in the restaurant.
The hotel’s bright public spaces encourage conviviality. Guests can eat the self-serve organic breakfast around a large communal table and seating areas spread around the space encourage guests to meet and mingle.
Consumers are increasingly looking for convivial experiences and spaces that encourage interaction. For more information, read our Conviviality Culture report.
