Cape Town – New York-based designer and architect Rafael de Cárdenas from design firm Architecture at Large has created a bright interior design for menswear store Unknown Union.
The design is in contrast with the more familiar look of menswear stores. Rather than dark, masculine colours that invoke images of men’s clubs, De Cárdenas has created an interior that exudes light and colour. The store’s brands are displayed in vibrantly coloured stacked-box shelving that contrasts with the white walls.
The store, in an 18th-century building, consists of two levels. The first floor is a shop, while the second is a flexible creative space for artists and designers to curate and show their work.
