Virtual schools are teaching people remotely through online education tools, and creating cheaper alternatives to traditional classroom learning. Escape Studios, a computer graphics college based in London, is putting some of its courses online using over 600 high definition educational video clips. This means that students can enrol and learn from any internet connection, in any location. Although traditional teaching involves a great amount of learning that cannot be replicated outside of the classroom, virtual schooling can provide an alternative when students cannot get to a learning centre.
Aside from reaching a new, remote audience, virtual schools could extend educational brands into new territory – schools could out-source their expertise overseas without the need for an external bureau, while businesses could educate the increasing numbers of employees who operate from outside the office. Furthermore, it could provide an option for certain African nations that are increasingly connected online, but lack the infrastructure and resources necessary to get children into schools.
