Loud and proud: Students explore colour clash

14 : 01 : 2011 Heimtextil : Frankfurt : Textile

Frankfurt – A selection of student work is on show at the Heimtextil exhibition in hall 4.2, stand H20. Highlights include Tanya Kasabova of New Bulgarian University, the Screech! exhibition by textile design students at Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and Lum! of Kumsthochschule Berlin Weissensee, which LS:N Global reported on earlier.

A bright clash of felt and four dyes – green, yellow, blue and red – provided Tanya Kasabova with the materials to create her final-year project. The piece is an interpretation of the world from a bird’s eye view. ‘Each piece of felt took between two and four hours to create and the entire design is hand-crafted,’ Kasabova tells LS:N Global.

The Screech! exhibition presented several woven experiments by students from Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Using different materials, each student created patches of innovative weaves, some combining paper with yarn, and others layering the weaves.

LS:N Global’s Emma Chiu is attending the Heimtextil exhibition in Frankfurt and will be reporting on the show throughout the week.
