Peak of luxury: LS:N Global members win awards

London – Members of LS:N Global have won some of the most prestigious prizes in the luxury sector.

Burberry, the Maybourne Hotel Group and Six Senses each won awards at the Walpole Awards for Excellence, held last night in Whitehall.

Now in their ninth year, the awards from the UK’s premier luxury association honour people and companies who exemplify British excellence in the luxury sector. This year, they were sponsored by another LS:N Global member, luxury telephone brand Vertu.

The winner of the British Luxury Brand award, the evening’s most prestigious prize, was Burberry. The brand’s CEO, Angela Ahrendts, accepted the award on behalf of the company’s 7,000 employees which, she tells LS:N Global, she thinks of as a family.

The Maybourne Hotel Group’s Claridge’s won the award for Best British Luxury Service. ‘We’re committed to making a difference in service,’ said the Maybourne Hotel Group’s CEO Stephen Alden as he accepted the award. ‘We’re replacing the style of service that is about formality and stuffiness to one that is more intuitive and more genuine.’

Had there been an award for the acceptance speech of the night, it would have gone to Hublot chairman, Jean-Claude Biver, as he accepted the International Luxury Brand award.

‘How can you leave a trace behind you? You leave a trace of love,’ he declared. ‘Love is eternal. Love never dies. Money goes and money flies. And you must leave a second trace – of your passion.’
