Freelancers trade tasks for free office space

12 : 07 : 2017 Workplace : Retail : Interiors

Antwerp, Belgium – Marketing agency Nightingale is welcoming freelance creatives to its headquarters to strengthen its professional network.

Located in the heart of Antwerp, the space provides resources to which freelancers may not otherwise have access, such as a photographic studio and a showroom. The company’s sharing-economy approach allows visitors to use its lecture arena, office area, living room, studio and experimental bar.

As an established brand, Nightingale’s novel use of office space provides the marketing agency with first access to new creative talent, before its competitors, in a mutually beneficial arrangement.

‘As a freelance writer, you can pay for using our offices for an entire month by writing four publications for Nightingale’s clients,’ says founder Stijn Nachtergaele. ‘In this way, we get to know the freelancer’s work and capabilities, while he or she will learn all about the ins and outs of our agency and use all our facilities.’

The Big Picture

  • As the idea of work shifts beyond traditional vocations, work spaces are evolving to reflect the needs of workers. For more on the future of the workplace, download our Workplace Summit Report 2016 here
  • The rise of the sharing economy has opened up new opportunities for brands such as Nightingale and Argent to expand their professional networks beyond their usual remits
