Singapore – The facility acts as a showroom to sell robots and host industry training workshops.
The lab was designed by architects Ministry of Design for RACE Robotics Lab, an industry initiative set up to drive robotic change and nurture robotics engineers throughout Singapore and Southeast Asia. The space was created to train and inspire engineers working with new automation technologies.
The development comes at a time when, according to the British Retail Consortium, one-third of retail jobs are expected to vanish in the face of evolving automation by 2025.
‘The laboratory needed to be a continuous open space, yet conductive for small clusters for hands-on training,’ says a statement from MOD on the overall design. ‘MOD also sought to create an engaging and future-forward spatial experience that denotes the idea of industrial automation and precision.’
