Milan Salone 2017: Intimate recommendations

Milan – Airbnb has collaborated with Cabana magazine founder Martina Mondadori Sartogo to produce a series of distinctly Milanese experiences.

Milan – Airbnb has collaborated with Cabana magazine founder Martina Mondadori Sartogo to produce a series of distinctly Milanese experiences.

  • Passeggiata comprises a programme of guided tours of the city led by established and emerging designers
  • The two-part collaboration also includes an installation at Casa degli Atellani, a 15th-century private home

Open for the duration of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Casa degli Atellani serves as the starting point for the Passeggiata programme of tours and experiences, each of which is curated by either a design critic, designer or influencer, and aims to reveal a hidden side to the city.

The experiences include a journey led by Design Miami/ director Rodman Primack into the life and work of architect Piero Portaluppi, who extended and refurbished the private home in 1922, while Fabrica creative director Sam Baron leads a tour to Noberasco, a boutique dried fruit store founded in 1908. The project follows the launch of Airbnb’s trips platform, which provides curated experiences that aim to immerse travellers in local culture.

As part of its continuing effort to champion emerging and established designers, Airbnb also invited Sartogo to curate a collection of objects that illustrate the creative process in the context of the space. A selection of unique eating utensils collected by Baron, material samples from Studio Formafantasma and a rock collection belonging to designer Faye Toogood are among the pieces on display.
