Berlin – Adidas has opened a pop-up store that enables visitors to design their own knitwear.
The pop-up, which is open until 11 March 2017, is designed to test localised and personalised consumer experiences, and is located inside the Bikini Berlin shopping centre.
High-end personalisation tools such as body-scanning technology and motion-responsive video projections enable visitors to get hands-on with the design and production of their garment, and ensure an exact fit. The ‘sport-to-street’ knitted Merino wool sweater is designed, fitted and produced in-store, and ready to wear in a few hours.
The store marks the first milestone for STOREFACTORY, a research project that aims to better understand how flexibility in production can be used to offer meaningful digital experiences and customisation for consumers.
