31 : 08 : 2016 Journy : Revelation Brands : Personalised Travel

New York – Journy is a tailored travel app that takes holidaymakers off the beaten track to offer them a locals’ view of their destination.

  • The app is manned by real-life concierges rather than bots
  • Journy provides an inexpensive way of planning your trip and making reservations

Before their trip, users of Journy complete a quick travel questionnaire, which provides a framework for the concierge service to plan around. Holidaymakers then subsequently receive a personalised itinerary for their trip, which ranges from food recommendations to activity bookings.

The app combines human knowledge of the area with the power of technology to provide an easy-to-use, convenient service that transcends difficulties often faced by tourists while planning a trip, such as language barriers.

‘We spoke to hundreds of travellers, who on average spend 10 to 20 hours visiting more than 40 different websites,’ says Leiti Hsu, co-founder of Journy. ‘We aim to solve the problem of travel planning being hard despite the sea of information seemingly at our fingertips.’

The Big Picture

With a nod to Revelation Brands, apps such as Journy and Porter & Sail are reacting to the saturation of information on the internet by returning to a word-of-mouth approach to tourism.
