Milan Salone 2016: Conversation pieces

Milan – A group exhibition by design collective Envisions presents experimental material samples to inspire the manufacturing industry.

  • Products in Process features material research from nine designers, including Iwan PolAdrianus Kundert and Bastiaan de Nennie
  • By presenting unfinished rather than final products, the designers aim to create a dialogue with manufacturers and clients

Located in the experimental area of Ventura Lambrate, the exhibition comprises a collection of material samples, each one driven by a single concept or resource. Pushing the boundaries of form, the pieces serve as conversation-starters and promote experimentation in mass production.

‘Our works are free from compromise that comes naturally as the next step when you start working with a manufacturer,’ Iwan Pol, designer and co-founder of Envisions, tells LS:N Global. ‘We wanted to present the ideas in their purest, most daring form so that they have the power to inspire.’

His piece features concrete that has been transformed to create soft, pillowy forms and intricate patterns. Precise Disorder by Studio Truly Truly is a material deconstruction of its lighting series Levity, which examines themes of lightness and gravity.
