Snickers Crisper campaign by BBDO, US

US – Creative agency BBDO has invented a collection of absurd imitation products for those suffering from hunger pangs to promote the new Snickers Crisper bar.

  • The Hunger Innovations campaign includes a digital video that imitates a home shopping channel with a faux infomercial
  • The satirical products can be purchased from HungerInnovations.com, which redirects to eBay

Taking a humorous approach, the Snickers campaign features a digital video that mocks how hunger strikes might cause chaos throughout your day, and a link to an eBay page from which viewers can buy the purposefully ludicrous products.

The video, which emulates America’s home shopping industry, asks viewers rhetorical questions relating to their particular hunger symptoms, before presenting a series of life-changing products, the names of which are basic portmanteaux. The dialogue runs like this: ‘Has hunger ever caused you to feel like a princess who’s also a little spacy – aka, a Sprincess? You need an Astro Tiara… or maybe just a Snickers Crisper.’

The Big Picture

Brands are starting to mock the hyperbolic language of advertising and marketing through campaigns like this that acknowledge how savvy consumers have become and approaches them as industry insiders. Find out more in our Anti-authenticity Marketing macrotrend.
