London – A blend of six distillates, Seedlip is both a non-alcoholic spirit and a refined soft drink.
Inspired by non-alcoholic recipes from John French’s The Art of Distillation, Seedlip joins cordials and shrubs as a non-alcoholic alternative to carbonated soft drinks. The product is named after the traditional term for a basket used to carry seeds.
To produce the spirit, five botanicals, including essence of American oak, Guatemalan cardamom, allspice, cascarilla bark and grapefruit, are distilled at a vinegar distillery in Germany. The final botanical, lemon peel, is distilled in Argentina using a water-extraction process.
Creator Ben Branson suggests a simple tonic serve, but the spirit can also be used as a mixer and will be available in bars and restaurants.
Seedlip fits into the Neo-Detox movement identified by LS:N Global in 2013. For more shifts in healthy hedonism, read our Alco-health microtrend.
