Space stay

01 : 10 : 2015 Kameha Grand Zurich : Michael Najjir : Space Suite

Zurich – The Kameha Grand Zurich hotel invites guests on a journey through the cosmos with its new Space Suite.

  • Inspired by the work of visual artist Michael Najjar, who is due to fly to space with Virgin Galactic
  • ‘Moving between fiction and reality is a key feature of the Kameha brand’ – Carsten Rath, founder and CEO

The Space Suite, which features Najjar’s striking photographs and subtle references to 2001: A Space Odyssey, is designed to transport guests to another reality.

The bedroom, or ‘sleeping module’, is covered by a semi-transparent foil that blocks visibility but enables light to shine through, while the bed is designed to appear as if it is floating.

A ‘living module’ continues the trend, with rocket engine-inspired light fittings and a universe motif created using high-resolution images from the Hubble Space Telescope printed on the floors and ceiling.

The Big Picture: Brands are discarding short-term thinking by looking to grand projects such as space travel that take decades or even centuries to plan. Find out more in our macrotrend The Immortal Brand
