Fashion with a heart

14 : 09 : 2015 Piaff Boutique : Batimat Architects : Retail Organism

Beirut – The city welcomes a stand-out luxury fashion destination in Piaff Boutique’s new and improved flagship store.

  • Made using untreated steel that will weather over time
  • Organised around a central ‘womb’ – a core area comprising a mezzanine and changing rooms

After over two decades in the same location, Piaff Boutique’s makeover called for something special. Graduating to a 250-square-metre space in the heart of Beirut, the brand has created a stylish lifestyle hub with some eye-catching design features.

Its retail space and mezzanine, which contains a bar, are connected by a laser-cut steel web motif that runs across the ceiling. The design aims to reflect the sense of unity behind the brand ‘much like veins circulating blood in the body’, says Batimat Architects, the team behind the redesign.

The Big Picture: The taxonomies of 20th-century life, such as formats, industries and services, are dissolving in a world where retail, hospitality and entertainment are blurring into one. Read our macrotrend The Convergence Economy for more.
