Living art

18 : 03 : 2015 The Proposal : Sleep : Observe

Berlin – The Proposal exhibition is inviting guests to stay overnight in a gallery showroom.

  • Art and hospitality are combined to create an unforgettable experience
  • The immersive exhibition enables visitors to become co-developers in the artists’ work

The Tower, the new guesthouse at The Proposal exhibition in Berlin, goes far beyond the conventional gallery concept with a mobile showroom, in which visitors are invited to stay overnight. With eight beds available, The Tower is presented in an ‘all-glass mini-skyscraper’ boasting 360-degree views of the exhibition on display.’

Visitors are invited ‘to sleep, observe, create’, giving art-lovers and potential buyers the opportunity to form an intense relationship with the artworks on show, with the possibility that this might prompt new impulses to buy. By valuing a proposal over a final piece of art, The Proposal exhibits the prototypes and mock-ups of possible creative outcomes. This one-of-a-kind adventure aims to offer a ‘refuge for the creation and experience of art’.

The Big Picture: Artists are increasingly engaging in Art-spitality to offer unique experiences that use hospitality itself as a medium.
