Tel Aviv – A new furniture line is turning locally sourced scrap materials into one-of-a-kind pieces, in just an hour.
Godspeed, as the name implies, is a fast-thinking design studio, established by Joy van Erven from Holland and Finn Ahlgren from Sweden.
The design duo’s time limit of one hour for each piece of furniture allows them to create pieces that are completely spontaneous, using an unorthodox design method much like that of an art performance. Without following sketches or plans, the eclectic scrap pieces are mashed together, resulting in abstract objects that provide used material with a new life.
The use of local and scrap materials to create distinctively different products is covered in our Turbulent Teens report.
