Fractured fashion: Prada launches new line in The Infinity Palace

Milan – For the launch of its 2015 autumn/winter menswear line, Prada has broken the mould – and the runway.

Working with Prada, architects OMA’s research counterpart AMO has transformed a room inside Milan’s Fondazione Prada into a disorientating runway it calls The Infinite Palace.

By partitioning the catwalk, AMO created a series of interconnected spaces, a classic enfilade, or suite, of rooms with gradually shifting proportions that it describes as ‘an abstract mannerist perspective’.

‘The progression through the connected rooms simulates endless repetitions and symmetries, while providing the illusion of an infinite palace,’ says AMO. ‘As the models move linearly across the enfilade, members of the audience, divided into small groups, are pushed into close and intimate proximity with the collection.’
