London – Designers Matteo Fogale and Laetitia de Allegri have presented a furniture collection made of stone-like materials produced from post-industrial waste at the Herrick Gallery for London Design Festival.

In the spirit of our Anti-Materials design direction, the creative duo is re-appropriating disregarded materials to create a new aesthetic that is inspired equally by natural stone textures and synthetic material qualities. For the –ISH collection, Fogale and de Allegri used reclaimed cotton and denim in combination with bio-based resin to create a set of materials that are both lightweight and highly malleable – Marblus, Denimite and Slate-ish, made from recycled paper laminate.

The synthetic stone surfaces were used to create a collection of sculptural forms featuring soft, organic curves that would result in large amounts of waste if crafted from natural marble. ‘Sustainability is about following the logic of the material,’ de Allegri tells LS:N Global.
