Food for thought: New sensory dining experience launches

Eindhoven – Livening up the plate, a new dining concept, is enhancing the sensory experience of eating out.

A project called Feeding the Senses has been developed by Philips’ design laboratory Design Probes and Michelin-starred chef Juan Mari Arzak.

Three designs have been developed: the ‘Lunar Eclipse’ bowl, the ‘Fama’ long plate and the ‘Bocado de Luz’ serving plate.

When food is put onto the plates or liquid is poured into the bowl, sensory stimuli, such as light and fragrance, are triggered, adding a new dimension to meal times.
