Vienna – Thermobooth, a collaboration between design studio taliaYstudio and digital designer Jonas Bohatsch, brings technology and tactility together in a touch-sensitive photograph booth.
The booth is made up of OLED lights, conductive plates, an electronic circuit board and a thermal printer. When users stand on the circuit board and touch each other – whether it be a kiss or a handshake – they complete the circuit and trigger the camera to take a picture, which is then thermally printed, resulting in a lo-fi, low-res photograph.
‘In our work, we are preoccupied with the relationship people have with themselves, each other and their surrounding environment,’ says taliaYstudio. ‘[With Thermobooth] we are opening a stage for playfulness and the unexpected.’
Like our microtrend Emotional Technology, the Thermobooth is an exploration of people’s emotional interaction with electronics, making the experience more human-centric.
