Paris – Harper, is a whisky cabinet designed by Thomas Schneider as his graduation project for his furniture-making course at the École Boulle, a fine arts and crafts school.
The cabinet, which is made out of ash wood and folded paper, provides a modern way to experience serving whisky. The paper is arranged much like an accordion, and protects the liquor from damaging light. It also provides a sense of ceremony when serving the whisky – pulling back the curtain to reveal the precious drink.
‘I emphasised the envelope of the cabinet to highlight what it contains by hiding it,’ Schneider tells LS:N Global. ‘This created an intimate and private atmosphere to celebrate whisky tasting [and] to welcome curiosity and discovery.’
