Milan – A new service called More was launched this week at Milan Furniture Fair that enables people to create their own customised prefabricated houses and gives them more for their money.
People who want to build a low-cost home have a consultation with a More architect and choose from five templates. The house templates include a long rectangular home called Casa Linea, and a house featuring four squared spaces grouped around a central point called Casa Q. After choosing a template, people can add windows and other features.
‘The service is cheaper than using an architect and a builder, and means that your home is designed and built by us only,’ says More architect Francesca Dall’Acqua. ‘In an industrial age, there is no reason why design can’t use these technologies to give people more.’
This is a great use of existing technology to deliver a bespoke service. For another example of how prefab is enhancing the way that architects and builders can serve people, read our Innovate feature on Mima House.
