London – Creative organisation Patternity is presenting a cultural festival entirely about patterns.
Pattern Power Superstripe is the first of a series of annual exhibitions that will delve into the world of patterns and their ability to connect people from different cultures and nations.
Stripes will be the focus of the inaugural event, with creations from Patternity and other makers. Visitors can find out why, even though there is a simplicity to striped designs, there are often meanings behind the lines. Designs using traditional skills will be on show, which relay stories about the craftspeople’s lives.
While patterns are everywhere, they are often overlooked. Pattern Power Superstripe will explore whether the way we look at details can help us to have a better understanding of the world, and whether being more mindful can make us happier and healthier.
The exhibition takes place at the Londonewcastle Project Space from 6 to 21 April 2013.
