Stockholm – Oki Sato, chief designer and founder of Nendo, created a landscape of snow-capped peaks for his lounge at the entrance to the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair.
Created from Forex, a plastic foam material, 80 5mm boards were cut and stretched out, creating evenly spaced partitions and peaks in a variety of sizes to emulate a snowy mountain environment. Pieces of furniture were then placed between the partitions, encouraging visitors to interact with the work and escape from the busy show.
‘I wanted to create a landscape rather than a lounge, to achieve the feeling of transparency with furniture,’ Oki tells LS:N Global. ‘As people walk through, it changes and moves with you.’ This hilly installation was also ecological as Forex is recyclable and comes in compact packets, making it easy to transport and minimising any environmental impact.
