International – Tweetping is a new data visualisation tool by French web designer Franck Ernewein that records tweets as they happen.
On the Tweetping website, each tweet is visualised with a light pixel on a world map. The result is a constantly changing image that looks like a night-time satellite shot. The tool also includes tracking features such as a live tweet counter for each continent and hashtag filters.
Tweetping is initially designed as a tool for people to lean back and enjoy the experience, but brands are also using live feeds to promote customer purchases. Examples include Net-A-Porter’s live feed, which visualises purchases and drives new sales.
