UK – Industrial designer Tom Dixon will launch a new range of iridescent stoneware pendant lights at next month’s London Design Festival.
The Lustre lamps, which were previewed at the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia (MOST) during the 2012 Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, come in four geometric shapes.
Each lamp is fired at 1,200°C and hand-glazed with a metallic finish made from minerals and precious metals. The mixture reacts unpredictably when applied to the surface of the product, creating new and unusual colour combinations, and ensuring that each lamp is unique.
The finish created by Dixon is the perfect example of an aesthetic we covered in our Charred and Stained design direction.
