Milan – French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte has designed a free-standing hob and oven unit for French kitchen brand La Cornue that departs from sleek, futuristic design cues and adopts a more traditional aesthetic.
The Big Vaulted Oven Tower comprises an electric oven that sits between a storage cupboard above and a deep drawer below. When all the elements are closed, it resembles a classic wooden cabinet. Similarly, while the Induction Table looks like a traditional dining table, its surface conceals four heat conductors and it is, in fact, a stove.
The La Cornue W collection was shown at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile and reveals a shift in consumer thinking from the kitchen as a purely functional space to a room that can be enjoyed. For a campaign that explored this idea, read our Innovate on The Social Kitchen.
