Rotterdam – Design studio Minale-Maeda has created a range of furniture called Inside Out that people can download and assemble themselves.
‘We wanted a contemporary way of transferring the production to people,’ says Mario Minale, design partner at Minale-Maeda. ‘It makes sense as there are many places that you can manufacture furniture.’
The furniture reduces the environmental impact of being transported, and enables people to customise the design with different dimensions and materials.
Putting artistic licence in the hands of the consumer in this way is a great example of 3DIY Culture.
