Top gear: BMW offers a new model in driving

Munich – BMW is launching a new car-sharing system next month.

Called DriveNow, the system uses about 300 cars, both Mini Coopers and BMW 1-Series models.

Drivers register for a one-off payment of €29 ($40) and a chip on their driver’s licence activates their user account to avoid vandalism. Users then locate a car in their area on the internet or on their smartphone, reserve it, unlock it electronically and drive off. Cars can be returned anywhere in the city.
