Paris – The latest Comme des Garçons collection to be shown in Paris has been described by founder Rei Kawakubo as ‘hybrid fashion’.
That idea manifests itself in outfits that seem to reference both the Comme des Garçons man and woman, with classic garments such as the trenchcoat being torn apart and reconstructed. In some cases outfits look completely disparate from front to back.
The addition of colourful flourishes has added emotion to the usually dark Comme des Garçons aesthetic in the form of asymmetric dresses made from vintage silk scarves collected by Kawakubo over the years.
