Helsinki – A new concept lamp reminds people to use less energy in public spaces such as libraries.
The Change-Coin Deposit Lamp by Finnish designer Tima Naskanen requires users to insert a coin to switch it on. When they have finished using it, the lamp will be switched off once they remove the coin. According to Naskanen, ‘95% of environmental impact of lighting comes during usage’.
This is a great example of how the leanomic, super minimal design is a result of Prohibition Culture.
