AI for everyone

21 : 11 : 2016 AI : AI Learning : Technology

Global – Google has launched an open-source platform that brings together the latest in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

  • The AI Experiments website gamifies AI to make it more accessible
  • It informs users about neural networks, demonstrating how they are learning and evolving

Since acquiring DeepMind in 2014, Google has dedicated itself to advancing AI technology. The brand is now aiming to educate and inform more people about its future potential by encouraging amateur coders to submit their own experiments.

The website provides access to six coding tools, as well as easy-to-follow video content that explains the various premises behind machine learning. Eight finished projects have already been submitted, with many of them presented in a gamified form to enable users to easily interact with them. Quick, Draw! is an AI form of Pictionary that instructs players to draw an object while the AI tries to guess what it is, increasing in accuracy as it learns the user’s style.

This is the first time that a platform has been created to highlight the innovations in AI technology, marking a significant shift towards the democratisation of AI learning.

The Big Picture

Advances in AI have made it an integral part of many facets of consumers’ lives, yet people still feel disconnected from it. Google’s platform encourages more active participation by bringing together the available technology and making it accessible to all. For more, see our Awakening Tech macrotrend.
