Flow rider

07 : 03 : 2016 FIELD : Generative : Data

London – Digital design agency FIELD and carmaker Toyota have created Unique Flow, a generative art website that enables visitors to create shapes and sounds using their keyboard.

  • The artwork is inspired by the carmaker’s C-HR concept
  • Visual effects and dynamic sounds convey the sensorial experience of driving in a city

Visitors are taken on a kinetic journey along a course that serves to outline the shape of the new concept vehicle. Each key press activates an audio-visual effect that augments the abstract landscape.

‘The lights, mood and colour palettes have all been derived from the visual impressions of urban environments,’ says FIELD. ‘The more the art is engaged with, the richer the experience becomes.’

Individual experiences can be saved and shared as GIFs, enabling visitors to take ownership and become active collaborators.

The Big Picture

The project is another step forward for generative artwork. For more innovative work from FIELD, read our Type Reinvented innovate.
