Stockholm – Building a well-deserved reputation as one of the most exciting events during Stockholm Furniture Fair, the Ornsbergsauktion opens its artist-operated auction house for a fourth year.
An event independent of the main furniture fair, the makeshift auction house is displaying 40 pieces of studio-made contemporary design at its new location of Galleri Bon, all set to be auctioned on 6 February 2015.
Practitioners involved are selected for their whole practice rather than for individual pieces. ‘This year we once again looked to include self-producing designers, but those who have created something original and inventive through their production process,’ curator Kristoffer Sundin tells LS:N Global.
Contributions to the 2015 auction include Odd Matter’s electro-formed copper lighting, Marjan Van Obel’s foam porcelain and powder-coated steel lamp, and Fredrik Paulsen and Kristoffer Sundin’s iridescent plywood and steel table. During a design week known for its traditional nature, the spirit of experimentation with contemporary design and its context is a welcome addition.
